Meeting people from the internet always carries some risk. These are the tools we provide and the habits that keep users safest.

Protections built into the app

  • 18+ only. Date of birth is verified at signup and enforced in the database.
  • Selfie verification. Discover only unlocks after you submit a selfie matching two prompted poses, and that selfie becomes your profile photo — so the face you see is the face that was checked. Profiles show a Verified badge once a moderator approves, or Awaiting verification while review is pending, so you always know which you are looking at.
  • Automated photo screening. Every submitted selfie is checked by an AI safety model before anyone sees it. Explicit or abusive images are rejected outright, and anything unclear — a hidden face, a pose that doesn't match — is hidden from Discover until a human moderator decides.
  • Verified-only browsing. You can set Discover to show approved profiles only.
  • Location cross-check. Your device location and your network (IP) location are compared. If they disagree — the usual sign of a spoofed or routed connection — that profile is dropped from "same country only" results until the checks agree. Your city stays private unless you choose to show it. The optional "Use precise location" setting stores only a coarse coordinate for the 100 km Discover filter — no distances are ever displayed and turning it off deletes it.
  • Report, block & unmatch. Available on every profile, chat, and match card. You can also report a single message from inside a conversation, which sends that message straight to moderators. Blocking is mutual and permanent unless you undo it; unmatching ends a conversation immediately.
  • Incognito mode. Free for everyone. Hide yourself from Discover and the daily pick while you keep browsing, liking and messaging — people you have already matched with still see you.
  • Notification controls. Turn match, message and like alerts on or off, or mute a single conversation without unmatching, so you never feel pressured to reply.
  • Anti-abuse limits. Verification attempts are limited per account and per network to make throwaway and duplicate accounts harder to create.
  • Human moderation. Reports are reviewed and acted on. Confirmed violations remove the account.
  • Encrypted transport & storage. Data in transit uses TLS; photos are stored privately and served through short-lived signed links.
  • Sign out everywhere. One tap in the Your account tab ends every active session on your account, including the one you are using — useful if you left yourself signed in on a shared or lost device. Accounts are limited to three signed-in devices at a time.
  • Strong passwords. Passwords must be at least 10 characters and are checked against known breached-password lists.

Meeting in person

  • Meet in a public place with people around — a cinema lobby, a café, a busy bar.
  • Tell a friend or family member where you'll be and when you expect to be home.
  • Arrange your own transport. Don't get picked up from your home on a first meet.
  • Stay sober enough to leave. Watch your drink.
  • Video chat first if you can — it's a low-cost way to confirm the person matches their profile.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave. You do not owe anyone an explanation.

Protecting your privacy

  • Don't share your home address, workplace, or exact daily schedule until you know someone.
  • Never send money, gift cards, or crypto to anyone you met on the app. This is the most common scam pattern.
  • Reverse-image search photos that seem too polished — it can flag stolen profile pictures.
  • Keep your city hidden in your profile settings until you're comfortable — only your country is shown by default when you turn it off.
  • Be cautious with anyone who quickly pushes you off the app to WhatsApp, Telegram, or SMS.

Reporting abuse

Use the Report button on any profile, match, or chat. Inside a conversation you can also tap the small flag beside any message you have received to report just that message — the sender is never told. Reports are private. Categories include harassment, fake profiles, inappropriate content, underage users, and scams. If a report concerns content depicting a minor, we treat it as our highest priority and act on it before other reports.

If you would rather not hear from a conversation while you decide what to do, you can mute it from the chat header, or switch on incognito mode from the Home tab to stop appearing in Discover. Neither one alerts the other person.
